A Quickie Before Bed
Just wanted to comment on something that happened to me today before I went to bed. I was headed down NE Sandy pulling my loaded trailer behind my truck. The posted speed limit was 35 but I was doing about 30mph. Anyone who has pulled a trailer knows that it takes a lot longer to stop. Unfortunately almost everyone else fails to realize this.
I say this because some damn jaywalker decided to cross the street and simply expected me to stop for him. He was not in a crosswalk or even near a crosswalk. I slammed my brakes and managed to stop while he looked at me like I was the idiot. He flailed his arms in a slow down motion while he straddled the lane lines. I know that we, as drivers, need to watch out for pedestrians but if you decide to jaywalk... you better have some common sense of your own. I don't care if he was down and out, drunk, or just stupid (I vote stupid), wake up and realize that in the battle of human flesh vs metal vehicle... vehicle always wins.
He then had the audacity to pull out his phone and attempt to take a picture of my vehicle as if he was going to report me or something.
Basically... if you decide to jaywalk you better be prepared to jayrun.
